Marbled Salamander [Ambystoma opacum] are one of the few salamanders that lay their eggs in the fall.The female stays with the eggs usually until they are covered by the fall rains.The embryos develop inside the eggs,the eggs cannot hatch until covered by water.When hatched they are in larvae stage for several months living in the water,and when large enough they metamorphosis,leave the water as salamanders to live a life on land.
